As it is, this was a gift for my teenage niece, so it should be more than enough to hold the numerous boy band and Harry Potter badges I've gotten for her. If I really wanted a bigger bag, I could have purchased a bigger bag. My initial instinct was to give 4/5 stars for a size on the small size for a student, but the dimensions are clearly stated in the description. It's made with heavy canvas, and it is quite sturdy. There are a multitude of compartments, and the quality of this bag is top notch. While this probably isn't large enough for a student who carries books, it is certainly large enough for somebody who carries a tablet and other school supplies. Besides, when I was on active duty for 15 years, I almost always had some type of backpack or map bag on me for items I needed or wanted to have at hand, and before that, I was a high school and college student carrying a backpack and/or gym back everywhere, so I'm just used to having something in which to keep my stuff neatly organized and readily accessible. I know what I've done in my life and how I was injured.

The military styling and durability helps with any deep down concerns regarding my self image and masculinity while carrying around a "man purse" everywhere I go, although I generally don't worry about such things very often, even when teased - especially when teased. I was medically retired from the US Army at 34 years old with major spinal and hip injuries and several surgeries, so as a 100% disabled, medically retired veteran, I need to have medication with me everywhere I go, medical identification cards and special instructions (just in case), as well as my wallet with several ID cards, car keys, water bottle, medications, smart phone and/or tablet, a medical journal, and, because I've been carrying a "man purse" around for about two decades now, I keep pens, pencils, coupons, fingernail clippers, SPF lip balm, contact lens eye drops and other small items inside my pouch. I bought a black one after using an olive drab green one for over two years.
